From "I Walk the Line" movie, Johnny and June's church.
Another view of their church
If you have seen the movie " Walk The Line" a wonderful story of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, you will see the church they attended in that movie which is here, also the house that John built , after he passed out walking back to Nashville after visiting June.    I believe I speak for many when I say, "They have definitely left a mark on all of our lives. They are gone but never will they be forgotten.  Their music will live on for years to come. "  They were two very talented individuals,  who shared a special deep love for each other.    I always respected them and appreciated the fact that they were just real people, they didn't put on any airs.  What you see is what you get.  They were honest about who they were. I still miss them, and will for a very long time, I'm sure.  It just isn't the same without them in this world.

Johnny Cash was a big influence on my music writing.  I remember as a kid about 11 years old,  I just loved Johnny, was one of his biggest fans.  I never will forget saying, "one day I'm going to meet Johnny Cash".    I remember writing him a fan letter and saying how much I loved his music. Afterwards, he sent me back very nice photos.  Then many years later,  after I married,  due to my husbands work, we moved to Hendersonville Tennessee.  That was around 1980.  I had no idea Johnny and a lot of other country music singers lived around there.      I got to meet  him one winters day .  It was one of those dark, overcast, cloudy dingy cold damp Tennessee  days in January.   It was a very small book store,  and he was wearing some kind of bright blue sweat pants, and a black long coat.  That's all I remember that he was wearing.  So there he was.   I hated to bother him, but  I thought, " I may never get a chance to talk to this man again", so I asked him if he would listen to some of my songs I had written.   He said "sure I'll give it a listen."   He was so nice.   I gave him a very rough demo tape I had made of the songs I had written.   That was the day I met the "man in black".        ~Trish Ray
